Sales, design and project coordination | Full time, including Saturdays | Salisbury House, St Helier | Competitive salary, negotiable depending on relevant experience and capability
Bauformat has brought some of the world’s leading kitchen, bathroom, interiors and outdoor brands to Jersey since 2003. We are looking for an experienced designer to develop and deliver our fitted furniture and interiors work. The role is based primarily at Salisbury House, our Interiors and Outdoor Living showroom, and also involves working across both showrooms and on client and project sites.
The right person is a confident client adviser with strong design judgement, space-planning ability and the technical accuracy to take fitted furniture and interior projects from concept to completion.
What you will work on
- Wardrobes and dressing rooms
- Bespoke fitted furniture
- Media units and home offices
- Loose and outdoor furniture
- Coordinated furniture and interior schemes
This is a role for someone who enjoys the whole project. You will meet the client, understand how they live, design the space, specify and order it, then see it through delivery and installation until the client is happy with the finished room.
What you will be doing
Working with clients. Meeting clients in the showroom and on site, understanding their needs, style and budget, and recommending the right fitted and loose furniture from our brands. You will follow up enquiries properly and turn them into profitable projects.
Design and specification. Measuring spaces and working from architects’ plans and construction drawings to design wardrobes, dressing rooms, media units, home offices and bespoke fitted furniture. You will present proposals clearly with design software, supplier configurators, mood boards and visuals.
Quotations and orders. Preparing and revising quotations, placing orders, checking acknowledgements and reviewing production drawings against the approved design. Keeping clear project records throughout.
Suppliers and products. Building a detailed knowledge of our brands and working with suppliers on design, pricing, technical questions and lead times. Tracking manufacture, freight and warehouse activity, and helping keep our showroom displays current.
Project and site coordination. Running several live projects at once and working with architects, developers, contractors, installers and our warehouse team. Confirming sites are ready and giving installers clear, accurate information.
Aftersales. Dealing with product, delivery and installation issues calmly and practically, and managing snagging, remedials and warranty matters through to completion.
What success looks like
- Enquiries and quotations are followed up consistently and turned into profitable sales
- Surveys, layouts, specifications, quotations and orders are accurate and practical
- Projects progress reliably across clients, suppliers, freight, warehouse, site and installation
- Clients stay informed and confident throughout, including when remedial work is needed
- Your product knowledge and our showroom presentation keep developing and creating new opportunities
What you will bring
This is an experienced hire. After training on our products and systems, you will work independently.
- Experience in consultative sales with discerning clients, in fitted furniture, kitchens, bedrooms, interiors or a related field
- A portfolio that shows strong design judgement
- The ability to measure accurately and read plans and construction drawings
- Close attention to detail in quotations, specifications and orders
- The organisation to manage several projects and suppliers at the same time
- Clear, confident communication with clients, suppliers and trades
- Practical problem solving and good commercial sense
- CAD experience. We use a combination of design packages, supplier systems and brand-specific configurators, and will train you on the ones you have not used
You do not need to know our brands, supplier ordering systems or internal processes yet. We will train you on those, along with our freight, warehouse and installation workflow.
Please note this is not a showroom assistant or decorating role. It suits someone who is comfortable with the commercial and technical detail needed to take a project all the way to a properly finished installation.
Why join us
- Ownership of high quality residential and development projects from first conversation to completion
- 20 days’ holiday a year, plus at least five additional paid days over the Christmas and New Year closure
- A portfolio of leading European brands, many of them Italian
- Varied work across fitted furniture, loose furniture, outdoor living and complete interior schemes
- The chance to shape and grow our furniture offer
- A small, experienced team across two St Helier showrooms
How to apply
Send your CV, a short covering note and a link to (or a few pages from) your portfolio to greg@bauformat.co.je. Applications close on Friday 23 October 2026. We will review applications as they arrive.
Our selection process has four stages:
- Initial screen of your experience in premium retail, furniture, kitchens, bedrooms, interiors or related project sales
- Portfolio interview covering your client approach, design judgement, technical accuracy and how you manage projects and suppliers
- Practical exercise based on a simple plan and client brief: the questions you would ask, the scheme you would propose, the technical risks you would flag, and how you would present and progress it
- Team fit and references
Applicants with existing permission to work in Jersey are preferred, but we will consider exceptional candidates who would need our support to obtain it.
